Founded in Tanzania
We started with one purpose: give Tanzania's aviation industry a proper training centre on home soil, one that meets the standards airlines actually hire against.

About us
We train aviation professionals for airlines, airports, ground handlers and freight forwarders, at our Masaki campus.
Our purpose
Soma Aviation Training Centre is a TCAA-approved training provider based in Masaki, Dar es Salaam. We train aviation professionals for airlines, airports, ground handlers and freight forwarders across Tanzania and the wider East African region.
We don't market loudly. We train people well. And our graduates do the rest, going on to roles at operators across the region. That track record is how the industry finds us, and how it stays loyal.
Our story
Soma began as one Tanzanian instructor's response to a simple problem: aviation professionals in this region were still training abroad for skills that could, and should, be taught here.

We started with one purpose: give Tanzania's aviation industry a proper training centre on home soil, one that meets the standards airlines actually hire against.
ApprovedFormal approval as a training organisation. From that moment, every certificate we issue has carried real weight with employers across the region.

Soma graduates go on to airlines, ground handlers, cargo operations and airport security teams across Tanzania and the wider region, industry trust keeps our intakes full.
What we stand for
Three small words that decide most of the decisions we make: what we teach, how we teach it, and what we're willing to sign our name to.

Every course is built to meet the standards set by the Tanzania Civil Aviation Authority and the wider aviation industry.
In practice
Curriculum reviewed each intake against current TCAA circulars and IATA references, not just the last edition we bought.

We teach what we know, set clear expectations, and stand by the certificates we issue.
In practice
If a trainee isn't yet ready for the exam, we say so, and offer support to close the gap. Certificates are earned, not handed out.

Aviation changes fast. Our training keeps pace, with current rules, real tools and modern teaching methods.
In practice
New rule from ICAO? New software an airline is using? It's in the syllabus the next intake, not two years later.

Soma operates under TCAA approval as an Approved Training Organisation, with course content aligned to SATC, IATA and ICAO standards.
